On Sunday, the first truly big move of the MLB Offseason occurred, though it did not result in a change of scenery for a major name. Starting Pitcher Aaron Nola, who continued to be reported as a legitimated starting pitching target for the Atlanta Braves, resigned with the Philadelphia Phillies for seven years and $172M. Jeff Passan confirmed the Braves interest in Nola:

In the end, Nola simply wanted to stay in Philadelphia. But this was further confirmation the Braves are looking to make a significant addition to the starting rotation. With Nola off the market, Sonny Gray may be emerging as the next target for the Braves. Of course, with Alex Anthopolous at the helm. nothing can be counted out, including the unexpected. The key is that it looks as if Atlanta will remain aggressive to bolster its pitching as the offseason rolls on.
