247Sports’ No. 1 prospect in the 2026 class is now part of the 2025 cycle as Carrollton (Ga.) High signal-caller Julian Lewis tells 247Sports he will reclassify. Lewis is committed to USC, but will also continue to consider Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Indiana, Michigan and Texas moving forward.

Over his first two high school seasons the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Lewis showed he was one of the nation’s top passers regardless of grade, taking Carrollton to the state title game as a freshman in the Peach State’s largest class, completing over 65 percent of his passes for 4,118 yards and 48 touchdowns. This past fall he threw for 3,094 yards and 48 scores, making good on over 66 percent of his attempts. The MaxPreps Freshman of the Year and then Sophomore of the Year was one of three finalists for Gatorade’s National Player of the Year Award this year alongside two 2024 five-stars in Florida signee DJ Lagway who won the award and Julian Sayin who put pen to paper with Alabama.

“Since I was seven-years old my goals have been to play D-1 football,” Lewis said. “Through hard work and sacrifice that goal has become a reality. I have been blessed to have two good seasons under Coach Joey King and I have confidence that after this coming season I will be ready to compete at the next level. So after much prayer and talking with my family, coaches and trainers I will be reclassifying to the class-of-2025.”

Lewis reclassifying to the 2025 class had been anticipated for a while. Committed to USC since August, Lincoln Riley and his staff never recruited another player at the position in the cycle.

Now they’ll have to battle to hang on to him.

“Georgia and Alabama have been recruiting me the hardest and have never stopped,” Lewis said. “I know what the opportunity is at Georgia. The opportunity to win championships, be coached and developed for the next level and represent my home state.”

Lewis and his family loved Nick Saban and now they look forward to connecting with Kalen DeBoer and the new regime in Tuscaloosa.

“Their track record speaks for itself,” Lewis said. “They have been successful and the scheme fits what I do best.”

Lewis is no stranger to Georgia or Alabama and he’s also spent time at Auburn.

“Auburn is recruiting at a high level and may finish with the best receiver class in history in 2024,” Lewis said. “Coach (Hugh) Freeze has shown he can play with the best.”

Lewis and his relationship with Steve Sarkisian goes way back.

“I’ve known Coach Sark since I was 10-years old,” Lewis said. “He’s a great guy and now you see the success Texas is having. He and Coach (AJ) Milwee coach their guys hard but develop them and get them ready for the next level.”

As long as Lewis has known Sarkisian, he’s known Indiana quarterbacks coach Tino Sunseri even longer.

“Coach Tino is my guy,” Lewis has told 247Sports in the past. “I’ve known him since I was eight-years old. He’s honestly the first college coach to notice me.”

Lewis is looking to visit Indiana in the near future. Michigan is the new program to the equation, coming off a National Championship campaign.

“The OC and NFL scheme,” Lewis said of the Wolverines.

Lewis has been selected to play in the All-American Bowl following his final prep season.
