Thursday, January 4, the hottest hour of daytime will be… in primetime. At 10/9c, ABC is airing General Hospital: 60 Years of Stars and Storytelling, a clip-filled special celebrating the milestone anniversary of the network’s lone remaining soap opera. (Hulu is streaming the show beginning the following day.) Check out the below video for a taste of what’s to come.
The extravaganza will feature a host of current cast members, including Emmy winners Genie Francis (Laura), Finola Hughes (Anna), Laura Wright (Carly) and Maurice Benard (Sonny), as well as appearances by former favorites such as Emma Samms (ex-Holly), Rick Sprngfield (ex-Noah) and Amber Tamblyn (ex-Emily).
Ahead of the broadcast, a bunch of Port Charles denizens revealed their dream storyline. Nancy Lee Grahn’s answer is one guaranteed to make Alexis fans chuckle. But the best of the lot has to be Josh Swickard’s response. Naturally, Chase wound up shirtless, but wait till you hear with whom and doing what.
Another tease asked the cast which character was their favorite. Eavesdrop on their answers below. (Our favorite was Hughes’ description of Kin Shriner as Scotty and Lynn Herring as Lucy. He’s much like his alter ego, Hughes said. And his leading lady? “Lynn just copes.”)
In another promo, the cast was asked when they got hooked on General Hospital. You can probably guess that the era of a certain supercouple’s controversial love story was a frequent answer. One vet, however, admitted that he’d started watching to see himself — and how badly he’d screwed up on air! Take a peek below.
