South Carolina: Updated flu data from CDC, DHEC

South Carolina continues to rank in the ‘very high’ category for flu cases in the state, according to the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The latest report is for week ending Dec. 23, 2023. Several other states are also in the very high category including: LouisianaGeorgiaTennesseeAlabamaMississippi New Mexico The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control also released a new report for week ending Dec. 23, 2023.The report said the following: This week 5,035 lab-confirmed tests were reported. In the current flu season, there have been 25,068 lab-confirmed tests reported. This week 446 influenza-associated hospitalizations were reported by 48hospitals. The cumulative hospitalization rate is 30.7 per 100,000. In the current flu season, there have been 1561 influenza-associated hospitalizations. This week, six influenza-associated deaths were reported; however, two deaths occurred during previous weeks. The cumulative mortality rate is 0.4 per 100,000. In the current flu season, there have been 18 influenza-associated deaths. South Carolina continues to rank in the ‘very high’ category for flu cases in the state, according to the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

  • Georgia
  • Tennessee
  • Alabama
  • Mississippi
  • New Mexico

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control also released a new report for week ending Dec. 23, 2023.

The report said the following:

  • This week 5,035 lab-confirmed tests were reported. In the current flu season, there have been 25,068 lab-confirmed tests reported.
